The session focussed on many untold happenings that led to and surround the event that left more than 2 million lives dead and 10-20 million people displaced. How selective depiction of the events by British sources kept most of the horrific violence un-broadcasted, how neighbors killed neighbors and childhood buddies became sworn enemies, will be narrated. The massacre that was witnessed by the Sudershena Kumaris, Hashim Zaidis, the trauma faced by generations of hindus, sikhs and muslims, gendered violence- will be at prime focus. We must take lessons from communities who have fought through such bloodied attacks by bringing together people belonging to the land. What happened to the pertinent partition-literature of various communities who faced unforgettable atrocities? All these took center stage in this discussion.
